Please be aware that our intelligence unit have asked if I can circulate details of what they believe to be a bogus caller rouse to local home watch coordinators so that they can make members aware. The reported incident happened in Congleton but I am conscious that bogus callers can travel amongst a number of towns so a similar story could arise in this area. It is also useful to bear in mind some of the different stories that can be used to persuade people to allow them access.
The incident involved 2 individuals knocking at a residential property claiming to be from BT. They claimed that they wanted to check the broadband. They did not have any ID on them so were denied entry to the property and left. The resident is unsure whether they were using a vehicle or not. The resident did not have a description of the female but they did provide their description of the male as being mid - late 20's with long, fair hair with dark skin.
As always if anyone does have anyone calling at their property who appears to be suspicious, please refuse them entry and report any concerns to the police via 0845 458 0000 at the time of the incident.
